Aurel Bauh Romanian, 1900-1964

Overview

Aurel Bauh arrived in Paris in 1924 and studied at the Académie Moderne under Fernand Léger before turning to photography in 1929. He explored all techniques (double exposure, photograms, solarization) and photographic genres (nude, advertising images, portrait). His works were exhibited and published in periodicals of the 1930s, such as Paris Sex-Appeal, Paris Magazine, and VU. In 1937, Aurel Bauh returned to Romania and opened a photography studio in Bucharest, which also served as an exhibition space. He returned to Paris in 1960, where he pursued a career in advertising.
